Our story

Masoomen Welfare Trust

Masoomeen Welfare Trust is involved in community building and its service. The trust was started in 2002 by building a mosque and a coaching center in 2004.  Later in 2010, a school came into being followed by a clinic and water filtration (RO) plant to uplift the living standards of the community residing in Awami Colony, Korangi. The Trust has not only provided employment opportunities to the residents but enrolled over 375 children who did not attend school earlier. Currently, it also provides a clean drinking water facility to households in various areas of Karachi and interior Sindh. It regularly installs sets up medical camps, provides dowry and rations to the needy.

The Founder

The founder of Ali Model English School was Syed Shabbir Haider who laid the foundation of this school when he started the Masoomeen Tuition Centre in 2004. In 2010, this tuition center blossomed into a secondary school to serve the needs of children of Awami Colony in Korangi.

It was his burning desire to help poor parents in getting their children educated. When the local Imam of a mosque mentioned the plight of children in his area (Awami Colony) he saw the perfect opportunity to realize his dream. Today, over 375 children are reaping the benefits of his efforts by getting an education for their future at Ali Model English School.

In November 2013, after a brief illness, he passed away, leaving a huge void in the lives of his family and community for which he was ready to help out in any way possible. When he put his mind to do something, he would always achieve it. Ali Model English School is a bright example of that.

Message from (Late) Syed Shabbir Haider

This message was written by the Founder of Masoomeen Welfare Trust, Syed Shabbir Haider for its umbrella fund, and Ali Model English School in 2012. “It was a very pleasant evening of April 24, 2004, when by the grace of Almighty ALLAH my sixty years’ old dream of opening a school for children of poor parents turned into a reality.

I was inspired by the great scholar Sir Rabinder Nath Tagore’s Pathshala named SHANTI NEKAYTAN which is now one of the most famous universities in the world in India.

In a small room in Plot No. A/2, 114 Awami Colony, Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi. The Masoomeen Coaching Centre surfaced, managed by Masoomeen Welfare Trust Baltistanian. The Centre started with 86 students – girls & boys, from classes Nursery to IV, free of any charge for one year and Rs. 5/- per month (class fee) later on. It had three teachers holding Master’s degrees, living in the same vicinity, and speaking students’ mother language.

My idea was to provide good quality education at an affordable cost to the children in this area. And also care for their health so that they also become good and proud citizens of Pakistan.

After about eight years of hard and persistent work, sincerity of purpose, commitment, and firm belief in the mission GOD ALMIGHTY turned Masoomeen Coaching Centre into ALI MODEL ENGLISH SCHOOL. The Education & Literacy Department, Govt. of Sindh has, on merit, registered ALI MODEL ENGLISH SCHOOL (Secondary) – No. 5603, dated 06.01.2012.

The Masoomeen Coaching Centre (Mother of Ali Model English School) continues to provide coaching from Nursery to class VIII.”
